We love gin and we thought it would be an exciting challenge to make our own gin-inspired botanical blend to flavour a beer!
We recruited our pals at Brewhall to bounce ideas off of and got to work!
We brewed a base beer with Pilsner malt, Vienna malt, wheat malt, wheat flakes and a touch of Golden Naked Oats. We strategically hopped with Belma to add a touch of strawberry and melon to the mix. We then let that ferment with our house ale strain, before conditioning on rhubarb, juniper, elderflower, and a secret blend of other botanicals that we concocted.
Patio Lights has a complex, botanical and floral nose while the tangy rhubarb hits your tongue with your first sip. A full bodied middle leads to a finish with pleasant elderflower sweetness that balances the lightly tart fruit. Crisp and flavourful, it’s a perfect accompaniment to an evening under the patio lights.
